New Windsor cancels summer camps due to COVID-19 pandemic Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of New Windsor has made the difficult decision to cancel all town run summer camps that would have been held this summer. Supervisor Meyers is particularly concerned with the recent developments of the inflammatory syndrome being found in children that may possibly be related to COVID-19, which heavily factored into this decision. The Town understands how much our families enjoy these camps each summer, however the safety of children is of the utmost concern of our Town officials. Town Encourages Less Visits to Town Hall Amid COVID-19 Pandemic Supervisor Meyers is requesting anyone who does not need to physically come to town hall to please conduct business through email or phone whenever possible. If you are paying your water bill, the bills can either be mailed in, dropped through the mail slot in the front door of town hall after hours, or given to the court officer at the front door during the hours of 11am-3pm. Town hall is still currently open to the public from 11am-3pm. For the safety of our employees and everyone visiting town hall, we are trying to reduce the number of people coming into town hall. New Windsor is currently the third highest in positive COVID-19 test results in Orange County. Court officers are still screening temperatures of all visitors and masks are required. We thank everyone for their help in this matter! Howl-o-ween Dog Costume Contest at San Giacomo Dog Park on 10/29! Dress your pooch in their Halloween finest! Warning: Residents being targeted by mail scam in regards to water tests *** WARNING – PUBLIC NOTICE *** The Town is advised of a direct mailing being sent to residents by a company called Hudson Valley Environmental Solutions. They are offering a “free water test” in an effort to sell homeowners a water treatment system for up to $6000 or more. They may also use the name “Rain Soft”. Please note, this company has not sought a solicitor’s permit to sell these products or provide these services to Town residents, and the Town has not sanctioned their doing so. In fact, the same company improperly solicited Town residents by leaving similar solicitations on people’s front doors and in their mailboxes a few months ago, prompting the Town to contact the New York State Department of Environmental Police who advised them to stop. Clearly, they didn’t heed this warning. Please don’t be fooled! If residents have any questions over this issue, please contact Supervisor George Meyers at (845) 563-4610. New Windsor designated a yellow COVID-19 hot zone by New York State The State of New York has designated New Windsor as a COVID-19 hot zone (yellow) as of today, November 19. In Orange County, New Windsor has been the number two municipality for positive cases in the last number of days. Two other designated yellow hot zones in Orange County at the moment are the Cities of Newburgh and Middletown. Supervisor Meyers is asking our residents to please adhere to the guidelines issued by the Department of Health. These include, but not limited to, wearing masks, frequent hand washing and social distancing. Supervisor Meyers is very concerned about the impact on the Town if we are moved to an orange hot zone. Listed below are the three zones and the information about each. Comments are closed.
