Town of New Windsor in contact with Verizon regarding Fios service in town Town Supervisor Meyers has contacted Verizon regarding their ability to provide Fios service to New Windsor residents. Throughout the month of January Supervisor Meyers’ office has been in touch with the Verizon Director of State Government Affairs, and also the director directly responsible for the Mid-Hudson and Westchester area for Verizon. Both explained that Verizon’s current position is fulfilling their existing signed franchise agreements with other towns, cities and villages. Verizon is not entertaining or committing to any new franchise agreements at this time. Verizon has agreed to monitor the town’s request. Verizon and the Town will revisit this issue in six months to see if Verizon’s position has changed. Town Hall closed to public; Town Hall staff available via email, phone and websites Effective Thursday March 19 New Windsor Town Hall and Recreation Offices will be closed to the public. Employees will be available daily between 10am and 4pm to conduct business via phone, email and website. There is also a mail slot in the front door of town hall that is available for correspondence. Online services are available 24 hours a day at newwindsor-ny.gov. These include online utility bill payments, court fines and fees payments, online FOIL requests, online mapping, and more on our website. On Friday March 20 Town Hall and Recreation Offices will be closed for a deep cleaning and sanitization. Monday March 23 through Friday March 27, Town Hall and Recreation offices will be closed to the public, with employees available from 10am and 4pm to conduct business via phone, email and website. In addition, Supervisor Meyers is declaring a State of Emergency in the Town of New Windsor. THIS IS ONLY A FORMALITY, to ensure the Town is eligible for reimbursement for expenses occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it also removes restrictions on the bidding process. Survey Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/82XS7D6 Town of New Windsor Halloween Curfew The Town of New Windsor will be enacting a Halloween curfew as follows - Friday, October 28: 9 PM to 6 AM Saturday, October 29: 9 PM to 6 AM Sunday, October 30: 9 PM to 6 AM Monday, October 31: 9 PM to 6 AM The curfew applies to all minors (persons under the age of 18), except those traveling to or from employment, school activity or medial emergency; or those in the company of a parent, guardian or person in locus parentis. During the aforementioned curfew, all minors shall refrain from congregating on public streets or on public or private property without the permission of the owner or person in control of such property. All minors shall be prohibited from trespassing upon property of the Town of New Windsor unless participating in an organized event of the Town of New Windsor. All persons shall be prohibited during the curfew period from being in possession, on any street or public place, of shaving cream, eggs, soap, rocks, spray paint, flammable or noxious chemicals, weapons of any kind, or any other items that could reasonably be used to cause vandalism or bodily injury. Any person knowingly violating these orders may be arrested and treated pursuant to the applicable laws of the State of New York.
