7 January Deferred Payment Agreements - Water Customers January 7, 2022 By Danyelle Barrett General 0 TOWN OF NEW WINDSOR WATER DEPARTMENT 555 Union Avenue New Windsor, NY 12553 UPDATED JANUARY 2022 NOTICE TO NEW WINDSOR WATER DEPARTMENT RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS, NON-RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS THAT SERVE RESIDENTIAL PREMISES, AND SMALL BUSINESS CUSTOMERS (THOSE WITH LESS THAN 25 EMPLOYEES) If you are a residential customer, non-residential customer that serves residential premises, or small business water customer who has experienced a change in financial circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, thereby affecting your ability to pay your water bill, you can self-certify your financial hardship and enter into a Deferred Payment Agreement (“DPA”) until June 30, 2022. This will allow you to pay your pastdue bills over time and avoid a lien being placed on your property for failure to pay. No down payment is required; no late fees or penalties will be assessed; and arrears included in the DPA shall not be the basis for disconnection, nor serve as the basis for any lien action. Related Articles Water Update: restoration times / water available for affected residents Our crews are still onsite and working on the water outage. Due to the emergency leak repair yesterday, when a water line was shut down, it caused a larger infrastructure problem that is taking longer to fix. Water service is expected to be restored later morning / early afternoon once the repair is complete. A water tanker will be available later this morning at Vails Gate Fire Company Station 2 on 4 Weather Oak Hill Road. Please bring containers to fill. Cases of bottled water will also be available for those affected by the water outage. We’ll post once both the tanker and bottled water are available at Vails Gate Fire Company Station 2. View Water Conservation Tips Boil Water Advisory Due to Emergency Water Leak Repair: Burroughs Ln, Shelly Rd, Keats Dr, Byron Ln, Melville Dr, Stephenson Ln & Hemingway Ln Due to a emergency water main leak repair, water will be turned off at approximately 4 PM on the following streets on Thursday, January 9th Burroughs Lane, Shelly Road, Keats Drive, Byron Lane, Melville Drive, Stephenson Lane and Hemingway Lane A precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for these same streets until further notice. LIFTED: Boil Water Advisory for February 6 Emergency Water Outage Update February 8, 10:40am: The boil water advisory for all affected streets listed below has been lifted. There is a boil water advisory in affect for: 925-899 Little Britain Road (Route 207), and Silver Stream Road. Notice of Water Service Shutdown & Boil Water Advisory: September 26 Due to a leak repair / valve replacement water service will be interrupted on Monday, September 26 from appoximately 9am to 4pm for: Vails Gate Heights Dr, Old Forge Hill Rd, Mountain View Village, and Big V Plaza. If you have any questions, please contact Scott VanDyke at 845-561-2550 VEPO Water Meter Installations to Restart September 8th Notice to all Town of New Windsor Water Customers, Given the significant improvements achieved, State, County and Town-wide, in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, VEPO Metering will be restarting the Town’s water meter reading system upgrade project after Labor Day on Tuesday, September 8th. Please note, this is a mandatory upgrade program, meaning all users of the Town’s water system must participate. Upon receipt of this notification, you must contact VEPO within the next 30 days, by calling the number below or by going to the website listed below in order to schedule an appointment to have the upgrade performed. Residents who refuse the upgrade will be assessed a surcharge on all subsequent water bills for non-compliance. Appointments will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 P.M. or from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and can be scheduled by either: Visiting VEPOmetering.com and clicking on “Schedule An Appointment”; or Calling 877-860-8376 and speaking with a Customer Service Representative. Technicians performing the upgrades will require access to the inside of your home. Most water meters will need to be located indoors (in a basement, cellar, crawl space, utility room, etc.). The process is expected to take no more than two hours, and water use will be disrupted intermittently during that time. Your safety and the safety of VEPO employees remain of utmost importance to all. To this end, you will be asked to provide an email address when scheduling your appointment. This will allow VEPO to send you an electronic notification with a photo of the technician prior to the appointment. All VEPO technicians must be in uniform, possess a photo ID, and will be driving a vehicle marked with VEPO signage. Further, all VEPO installers will be required to undertake the following safety protocols, every day, before appearing for any scheduled installations: All installers must undergo a temperature and health assessment check and record the results thereof, every day prior to the start of their shift. As per CDC guidelines, if they exhibit a fever that exceeds 100.4º or any other known symptoms of COVID-19 (i.e., cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, chills, fatigue, body aches, or new loss of taste or smell), they will not be permitted to work. If these guidelines change, the safety protocols for this project will be adjusted accordingly. No installer may return to the job until they meet CDC guidelines for doing so. It is currently recommended the employee (i) be symptom free for at least 10 days after the first onset of symptoms; (ii) be fever free, without use of fever reducing medication, for at least 24 hours; and (iii) show improvement of whatever symptoms they’ve exhibited during their time out from work. All installers will be wearing a new face mask every day; and new disposable gloves and booties that will be changed before each installation appointment. All installers will either wash their hands or apply hand sanitizer before and after each installation. For the safety of the installers, we ask that you please call 877-860-8376 by 7:00 a.m. on the day of your appointment, to reschedule your appointment, if you or anyone in your household feels ill. We also ask that each property owner, resident or representative that will be present during the installation open all doors and remove any obstacles in the vicinity of the water meter to be replaced. This will minimize objects the installers may need to touch in order to perform the installation of your new water meter. The Town appreciates your support and cooperation with this very important project, which is intended to provide our residents and users with a significantly improved water metering system that will greatly increase meter accuracy, monitor leaks, and reduce the need for estimated billing.
