6 May Cancellation of the Memorial Day Parade & Service on May 17 May 6, 2020 By Patrick Mangan General 0 Out of an abundance of caution due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of New Windsor has cancelled the Memorial Day Parade & Service scheduled for Sunday, May 17th. The Memorial Day Service will be rescheduled for a date in the future when it is safe to hold. Related Articles 9/11 Memorial Service: 5pm at Town Hall On September 11, a Day of Remembrance, the Town of New Windsor will be holding a 20th Anniversary Memorial Event. The Town will be dedicating a Memorial bench including a section of steel from the World Trade Center, a reminder that we will and should never forget this day. The Memorial will be held on the Town Hall grounds starting at 5pm and all are welcome to attend. George J. MEYERS, SUPERVISOR Supervisor Meyers announces cancellations due to ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic PRESS RELEASE In light of recent developments with the coronavirus pandemic and the public health emergency in New York State, Supervisor George Meyers is taking the following actions to limit exposure to town employees and the public. These protective measures are being taken to assure the operation of local government in the safest manner possible for the public and our employees during this public health crisis. All Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals meetings, public hearings and workshops are canceled until further notice. Justice Court appearances and hearings before Justice Meyers (Tuesdays) and Justice Calderin (Thursdays) are canceled until further notice. The Court will notify you of a new appearance date once the coronavirus pandemic passes. All Recreation programs and activities are canceled until further notice, including the town’s annual Easter Egg hunt. Supervisor Meyers is requesting anyone having business with the Town of New Windsor use the telephone, email, online services, or US Mail to conduct business and avoid coming into Town Hall or the Recreation Offices. New Windsor offers online utility bill payments, court fines and fees payments, online FOIL requests, online mapping, and more on our website at newwindsor-ny.gov. New Windsor Police and New Windsor Ambulance have instituted health safety protocols to protect their members and provide uninterrupted service to our residents and the general public. Town of New Windsor in contact with Verizon regarding Fios service in town Town Supervisor Meyers has contacted Verizon regarding their ability to provide Fios service to New Windsor residents. Throughout the month of January Supervisor Meyers’ office has been in touch with the Verizon Director of State Government Affairs, and also the director directly responsible for the Mid-Hudson and Westchester area for Verizon. Both explained that Verizon’s current position is fulfilling their existing signed franchise agreements with other towns, cities and villages. Verizon is not entertaining or committing to any new franchise agreements at this time. Verizon has agreed to monitor the town’s request. Verizon and the Town will revisit this issue in six months to see if Verizon’s position has changed. Comments are closed.
